Assembling a Yamaha YM1 after painting

Assembling one of these takes less time if a certain order is followed. I find it easier to start by placing the frame upside down on the floor. Then, on goes the swing arm, kick stand, side stand and shocks. You can then put on the wheel and flip the bike over.

Engine is now installed. Widen up the top rear mount prior to installing. This is where the  engine will usually hang up. Here we see the cylinders and heads on the engine but I put the engine in without them. They are very heavy.  No danger of the bike tilting forward until forks are added.

Then its time to add cables and electricals. Rear fender front mount bolt, tool box..the items that would be trouble to install later on. It takes experience to know what those things are.

Forks have been added and the floor jack is needed for support. Cables, speedo, headlight and electrical is installed and checked. Its starting to look like a motorcycle now. From here its time to add the tank, seat and other asthetic items. The hard part has been done.
